A primary purpose of Contemporary MAP is to educate youth about multi media and installation art, and provide them with a contemporary method of self-expression. It is the goal of Contemporary MAP to raise in youth the level of critical thinking towards media, TV, film and art. The organization believes that the expression of feelings and thoughts through art and multi-media helps teens to live a more constructive life.
The workshops of the organization offer a unique opportunity to explore traditional methods of fine art combined with modern 21st century tools. Contemporary MAP is not about filmmaking, but rather about using video as one element in creating art. Youth learn to apply new out-of-the-box methods, incorporating the burst of video art that is going on now all over the world, with more traditional art disciplines like collage, still photography, and sculpture.
